Sex abuser's husband taken ill

Nursery worker Vanessa George admitted 13 counts of child sex abuse
The husband of a Plymouth nursery worker who admitted sexually abusing children has received hospital treatment after being taken ill.

Andrew George was taken to Derriford Hospital from his home in Efford, Plymouth, on Tuesday.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and Mr George was later released into his family's care.

His wife Vanessa, who worked at Little Ted's nursery, is due to be sentenced next month.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called to an address in Efford, Plymouth, around 11am on Tuesday after concern was raised for the welfare of a man thought to be in the property.

"Officers arrived and called an ambulance.

Thirty victims

"A man was taken by ambulance to Derriford for treatment.

"His condition is not thought to be life-threatening and the incident is not being treated as suspicious."

Vanessa George worked at the Little Ted's nursery in the Efford area of Plymouth for three years.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to 13 charges, including sexual abuse of children and making and distributing indecent images of children, at Bristol Crown Court.

She had exchanged thousands of text and e-mail images of abuse recorded on mobile phones with two other people, she met on the social networking site Facebook.

Her co-defendants Angela Allen, from Nottingham, and Colin Blanchard, from Rochdale, also pleaded guilty, when they appeared in court last Thursday.

In total the trio pleaded to a combined 37 out of 38 charges. They are due to be sentenced in November at Bristol Crown Court.

Police believe that an estimated 30 babies and toddlers were victims but have said that the children might never be identified from the images alone.
